Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is an essential part of our digital infrastructure, yet many projects and contributors face ongoing challenges when it comes to financial sustainability. Donations are one commonly used strategy, but questions remain: A re they effective? Are they welcome? And how should they be communicated and managed?

This survey aims to better understand how FOSS developers and project maintainers feel about donation campaigns, transparency in fundraising, and allocation of funds. Your responses will help us identify best practices and highlight community expectations around ethical, respectful, and sustainable donation practices.
