“The future is already here - it’s just not evenly distributed.” - William Gibson
We invite you to contribute to a collective exploration of transformative change. Completing this survey will take between 5 and 10 minutes.
This survey is part of the Post-Growth Modelling Community (PGMC) research initiative, which seeks to advance post-growth narratives within forthcoming reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
The aim of the survey is to gather ideas for “seeds” of transformative change. Seeds are defined as existing transformative initiatives that point toward just, post-growth, and sufficient futures (See Raudsepp-Hearne, C. 2020). These seeds may include (but are not limited to): grassroots projects, public programs, research projects, public policies, or informal community practices. They can emerge from any domain, including (but not limited to): food, housing, mobility, energy, culture, governance, education, and health. They can be large seeds applying at large scale or small one for local communities or collectives.
We welcome contributions from a broad range of actors, including researchers, civil society organizations, community leaders, public administrations, and advocacy groups. Whether you are involved in formal research, public service delivery, or local activism, your insights are vital for mapping the rich and diverse landscape of transformative initiatives.
We are interested in both positive examples, those that are promising, inspiring, or hopeful, and critical cases, such as initiatives that have failed, stalled, or been co-opted. Understanding these diverse experiences helps illuminate the complex dynamics of systemic transformation.
Your contribution will inform a mapping of initiatives across regions and sectors, supporting the co-creation of narrative scenarios for post-growth futures. This work will feed directly into a collaborative scenario-building workshop to be held in Exeter and online on September 29–30, 2025.
The survey will remain open for contributions until September 15, 2025. You can share up to five seeds. Selected contributions may be featured in reports, visual mappings, or scenario-building activities, with consent and appropriate attribution.
